Resource Allocation - Latest
2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/20 Allocations
The Resource Allocation formula (NRAC) has been used to calculate target shares for the next three financial years: 2017/18, 2018/19 and 2019/2020. These target shares are used by the Scottish Government to inform the allocation of NHS Revenue Budget between the 14 territorial NHS Boards in Scotland. Previously the allocations were made annually: however, in 2016, allocations are being made for the next three financial years.
These allocations incorporate the results of the review of the Morbidity and Life Circumstances adjustment for the Acute care programme, which was completed in August 2016.
Please note that the final shares actually allocated to the Boards are different from the target shares calculated by the formula. The policy of the Scottish Government Health Directorate (SGHD) is to phase in the Formula by way of 'differential growth' whereby all Boards would continue to enjoy real-terms growth in their allocations year-on-year, with those above parity (i.e. above their formula target share) receiving less growth than those below parity until the new distribution was achieved.

Note: Before opening the spreadsheet please ensure that your Macro security settings are set to medium. To do this; open Microsoft Excel, go to "Tools" menu and select "Macro". Then select "Security" and ensure that the security setting is set to either "Medium" or "Low" (Medium is the recommended option). If your settings were set to "High" you should reset the level when you have finished looking at the results.
