Cardiovascular Anticipatory Care Screenings 2011-12
Welcome to our Heart Disease & Stroke web pages. This section provides information on heart disease including coronary heart disease (CHD).
This December 2012 publication is the first update to the Heart Disease and Stroke web pages following the consultation on proposed changes to the annual heart disease and stroke publications. All Topic Areas that were previously published have been updated, with the exception of Prevalence information. A number of tables within each Topic Area that were previously published are also not part of the December 2012 publication.
A summary of the latest publication is available and detailed tables of information are accessible for different Topic Areas such as deprivation, hospital activity, prescribing, incidence, survival and mortality.
Although the same team deals with coronary heart disease and stroke information, the two conditions are separated on ISD's web site to highlight the distinction between the two in terms of their epidemiology and service provision.
We have also traditionally included information on other forms of cardiovascular disease and this is a reflection of the broader remit of the Scottish Government's 2009 strategy Better Heart Disease & Stroke Care Action Plan
Consultation on the Content of the Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics Publications
In September 2012, ISD proposed a number of changes to the annual heart disease and stroke publications on the ISD website. ISD consulted stakeholders on these proposed changes with the aim of ensuring that ISD are supporting public health by producing high quality information and making the best use of the resources available for heart disease and stroke work.
The consultation closed on Friday 26th October 2012. The results of the consultation can be found in the summary document below:
The heart disease and stroke publications were released on 18th December 2012. As part of the publication, there is an option to rate the publication and provide comments. ISD will review any comments that are received following the publication and, if appropriate, take account of these for any future publication.
ISD would welcome any further comments and suggestions on the heart disease and stroke publications. If you wish to contact ISD about these publications, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
