eSCRIPS

The web based electronic package eSCRIPS (Electronic Scottish Consultant Review of Inpatient Statistics) which was launched in July 2002 has been discontinued.

Demand has progressively fallen away and feedback from users suggests that the data is now generally considered too 'out of date'.

Other tools provide similar reports based on the same source data (SMR01), but on a timelier basis. Activity data, at individual consultant level, are available via Navigator, an ISD web based information tool for senior staff in NHS boards, CHPs and hospitals. The information on consultant activity is designed to be reviewed by medical or clinical directors and includes indicators showing length of stay, day cases, and workload (admissions and procedures).

Currently ISD is involved in a process led by the Scottish Government and representatives from the Colleges to consider the development of indicators to support the revalidation process.
