General Practice - Quality & Outcomes Framework (QOF)

QOF includes disease registers for stroke and TIA and this information may be used, for example, to estimate the prevalence of cerebrovascular disease diagnoses.

Heart Disease

The Heart Disease & Stroke Programme also publishes analogous information, including deprivation, hospitalisations and mortality, on patients with coronary heart disease.

Scottish Stroke Care Audit

This is a national audit within the Quality Improvement programme at ISD and checks the quality of stroke care delivered in all hospitals in Scotland managing acute stroke. The SSCA publishes a report on the audit findings annually, the most recent being the 2015 National Report: Stroke Services in Scottish Hospitals

Hospital Care

1. Diagnosis table - number of episodes and incidences per year over the last 5 years with corresponding rates per population, for a wide range of diagnoses, including IHD (CHD), AMI (heart attack), angina, heart failure, CVD. This is broken down by health board, 5 year age band and sex.

2. Operations table - number of inpatients, day cases, outpatients per year over the last 5 years for wide range of procedures including CABG, angioplasty, angiography, valve surgery.
