Student Nursing Intake Project (SNIP)
The Student Nurse Intake Project (SNIP) collects and analyses nursing and midwifery data from employers and Educational Institutions. Analysis of this data informs policy and workforce planners on numbers of training places required each year to meet the health service needs of the Scottish population.
The Scottish Government recognises the key role of workforce planning in enabling the health service to work together with its partners to provide services that are both accessible and meet patient needs in an efficient and productive manner. In recent years, workforce planning has been more firmly established within NHS Boards and Regional planning groups. The Scottish Government intends to further strengthen workforce planning with Non-NHS organisations who employ nursing and midwifery staff.
To provide a more robust analysis of nursing and midwifery workforce needs, ISD in partnership with the Scottish Government carries out annual data collection from both NHS and Non-NHS service providers. The data collection is focused on staff currently in post and future demand projections according to five main nurses specialties: Adult, Mental Health, Paediatric, Learning Disability and Midwifery. The form will also be used to record numbers of AHPs working outside the NHS.
Please find below data collection forms for nursing and midwifery staff employed by non-NHS organisations.
