Linked Data
ISD holds two main linked datasets, which allow analyses ranging from simple patient based counts to complex epidemiological and survival analyses.
ISD regularly produce linkages that include two other data sets, the Scottish Health Survey and the Scottish Longitudinal Study.
We also have the capability to link datasets together whether these are ISD held or your own datasets.
ISD linked datasets
- SMR linked dataset (SMR01, 04, 06 and GROS deaths records)
Hospital discharge records, submitted between 1980 to present day from non-obstetric specialties combined with cancer and death registration records to form continuous patient level profiles. - Maternity and Neonatal Linked dataset (SMR02, SMR11, Scottish Birth Record, Stillbirth and NeoNatal Deaths records)
The maternity and neonatal database brings together the obstetric histories of mothers delivering in Scotland over the past 25 years and links this with morbidity and mortality outcomes relating to offspring. This linked data set also has been used to produce a system which monitors and reports the incidence of congenital anomalies across Scotland.
Other linked datasets
- Scottish Health Survey
The Scottish Health Survey provides a detailed picture of the health of the Scottish population in private households. ISD hold a minimum linked dataset: Scottish Health Survey and the SMR linked dataset - Scottish Longitudinal Study
A large-scale linkage study created from a variety of administrative data including data from the 1991 and 2001 Censuses, vital events (births, deaths, marriages etc.) and migration data. http://www.lscs.ac.uk/sls/
