Care Of Older People

Long Stay Care Of Older People - Hospitals & Care Homes 
Patient-based needs and dependency data are collected routinely on patients in long stay units for care of the elderly in hospitals in Scotland (SHRUGs).  Similar data are collected from care homes (SCRUGs).

Information on Older People in the Community Setting (SSA-IoRN)
This is planned to allow national collection, in a standardised format of person-based information on need and service provision for all older people in Scotland who receive services within the community.

Care Homes Staffing Project (CHSP)
The Care Home Staffing Project has been developed to investigate if and how the Single Shared Assessment - Indicator of Relative Need (SSA-IoRN) might be used in future to inform staffing levels within care homes for older people in Scotland. 

Care Home Census
For time periods up to March 2002, statistical information on private nursing homes was collated by ISD and is published here, whilst statistical information on residential homes was collected and is published, together with information on private nursing homes, by the Scottish Government. 

Care Home Statistics
