Data Development Programme

The Data Development Programme is being developed to fill gaps in information supply and develop new ways of collecting national information.

Objectives 2008/09

  • Carry out a census to collect data on Community Nurse services
  • Roll out of Nurse Clinical Indicators toolkit
  • Carry out Allied Health Professional (AHP) census for comparison to 2005 census data
  • Maximise the use of data from existing data sources in partnership with other services e.g. A&E, NHS24, or Scottish Ambulance Service.

Programme Summary

The data development programme was set up to address the information challenge that comes from the changing ways in which healthcare is delivered.

The programme records outpatient activity accurately to reflect how patient care is currently delivered. It has been leading the development of new ways of filling the information deficit in the area of operations and clinical procedures.

Through the projects below emerging findings are published from new data collection processes and provide statistics on activity in developing clinical care:

  • Allied Health Professionals and other technical departments
  • Nurse-led clinics
  • Outpatient operations/procedures
  • Practice Team information
  • Accident and Emergency Data
