ISD Women & Children's Health Information Programme
The sections below present a range of information relating to sexual health, pregnancy, births and children's health. Much of it is provided at Scotland and NHS Board level, while some is also available at local authority level. In addition to the explanatory text and charts, downloadable spreadsheets are also offered.

The tables/charts presented here are based on data collected from maternity hospitals and include trends from 1976. Details on the mother, outcome of pregnancy, delivery and the baby. The analyses are grouped into four main topic areas: births (numbers and outcome), maternal age, mode of delivery and birthweight/gestational age. A link to the annual Scottish Stillbirth Perinatal and Infant Mortality and Morbidity Report can also be found within this section.
This section presents a wide range of information relating to the health and well being of children in Scotland. There are several areas covered including: Child Health Surveillance, Childhood Immunisations, Breastfeeding, Childhood Obesity, Childhood Morbidity and Childhood Mortality. Information on GP consultations, hospital admissions, childhood injuries, notifiable diseases, dental and growth monitoring can be found within the morbidity topic area.
Analyses presented here include sections on teenage pregnancies, maternal smoking and termination.
The Scottish Birth Record (SBR) is a web-based system developed on the NHSNet. It provides a single, transferable, electronic record for all births and neonatal care, including readmissions in Scotland
SBR's key aims are to: improve clinical communication; promote audit and clinical governance; provide detailed, accurate timely data and to provide the ability to register newborns on CHI shortly after birth.
Data provided by Genitourinary clinics and relate to new patient episodes. These include analyses on diagnosis (including HIV/AIDS), age, gender, area of residence, source of referral and contact action.
