Child Health Home

Ensuring the health of children is seen as central to efforts to improve the health of the population as a whole and to help combat inequality. A key section of the 2007 Scottish Government action plan 'Better Health, Better Care' lays out the benefits of giving children the 'best possible start'. As that document says, 'by getting it right in the early years and supporting good health choices and behaviours amongst children and young people, we can set them on a trajectory where they can sustain good health throughout their lives'.

This section of ISD Scotland presents information on a variety of topics relevant to the health of children in Scotland including breastfeeding, hospital admissions, immunisations, mortality, obesity, and children with additional support needs.
