Child Health
The Child Health Information Team (CHIT) was established within ISD Scotland in 1999 to provide a focus for information on child health and children's health services.
The team is responsible for the exploitation of data collected through the Child Health Systems Programme (CHSP) during routine child health surveillance, immunisations and additional support needs assessments. CHIT supports the CHSP and NHS Scotland by providing information to monitor public health and support planning and delivery of children's health services at a national and local level.
Although the team's main focus has been on child health surveillance, they also have access to a wide range of other child health related data including childhood hospital activity and morbidity statistics. The team also provide an information request service through which any interested parties can request specific analysis.
