Workforce Statistics Back to Workforce Statistics Home Page This section provides information on the number of dentists working in NHSScotland. Information is presented as headcount or Whole Time Equivalent (WTE). WTE adjusts headcount figures to take account of part-time staff. It is important to note that information is not collected on the working hours of dentists in the General Dental Service (GDS). Data for the GDS show the number of dentists in post (headcount), not the WTE. Tables are available via the links below. The Dental Workforce Project utilises nationally-held data for workforce planning purposes. This includes predictions of future supply and workforce requirements for dentists.
