Asthma - number of consultations
The chart below shows the estimated numbers of consultations in Scotland for asthma for the four financial years 2003/04 to 2006/07, by staff discipline. Figures are standardised by age, gender and deprivation to account for any differences in these characteristics between the PTI sample population and the Scottish practice population.
The chart shows that the estimated number of contacts for asthma after three years of increasing has slightly decreased in 2006/07. Most of the contacts for asthma were with the practice nurse, reflecting the fact that routine monitoring of asthma is increasingly carried out by practice nurses. The number of GP contacts for this asthma have decreased for the last three years.
