Information to support the provision of care for those with mental ill-health

In order to take good care decisions and deliver high quality mental health care, good quality information is required.  However, as recent national assessments of mental health services have found, reliable information is often not available, particularly for care delivered in the community.  The Information Services Division (ISD) of NHS National Services Scotland has therefore established an Improving Mental Health Programme (iMHIP) link opens in a new window.

Prescribing statistics

Prescribing statistics for medicines used in the treatment of mental illness are presented in this section.  Drug groupings are as defined in the British National Formulary (BNF) No. 54, September 2007.  Data provided are the number of prescribed items, gross ingredient cost and the number of defined daily doses for Scotland and by NHS Board.  Click on the links below to access the relevant page.
