NHSScotland Workforce Statistics updated on Scottish Health on the Web (SHOW).

Information Services (ISD Scotland) of NHSScotland, today updated this web site, accessible via: http://www.isdscotland.org/workforce

The release includes information on consultant numbers employed in NHSScotland.

Consultants

Quarterly consultant figures show that at 31st December 2005, NHSScotland employed 3, 546.7 whole time equivalent consultants, an increase of 53.2 (1.5%) from 30th September 2005, when the figure was 3, 3493.5 whole time equivalent.


BACKGROUND NOTES FOR EDITORS

1. WTEs adjust headcount staff figures to take account of part-time staff.

2. All information is shown within the “Workforce” pages of ISD Scotland’s web site as follows:

  • Consultant staff in post figures in section B (tables B8-B9)
  • From 2005 consultant staff in post figures are published quarterly.
