SUMMARY

Data is drawn from the National Drug Treatment Waiting Times Information Framework Report. Data are released from the Framework on a quarterly basis.

Key points for July ? September 2006, at a Scotland level 1,2 :
  • 46% of individuals were offered an appointment for assessment within 21 days of referral.
  • 32% of individuals were offered an appointment for prescribed drug treatment within 14 days of the decision regarding treatment being made/client ready for treatment.
  • 39% of individuals were offered an appointment for residential detoxification/rehabilitation within 14 days of the decision regarding treatment being made/client ready for treatment.

Additional notes:
  1. There is a wide range of demand for substance misuse services across Scotland, and to meet this demand, an equally variable set of practices across the country. In some ADAT areas, the impact of a single specialized service ? for example, a crisis management centre ? may dramatically alter the distribution of waiting times. Consequently, to compare data across ADATs is risky and potentially inappropriate.  These tables are intended to help ADATs monitor and manage performance in their own areas over a period of time.
  2. Points to note when interpreting the July - September 2006 data are:
    - There are no submissions from Perth and Kinross or Highland ADATs.
    - There is likely to be some under recording of treatment codes for those clients who are waiting for interventions.
  3. It is important to be aware that there are some data quality issues that may impact on analysis - caution is therefore recommended when interpreting tables.
ISD only receive aggregate data from each of the ADAT's and it is therefore not possible for us to validate the data. Detailed questions regarding local data should be addressed to the relevant ADAT.
