The Care Homes Staffing Project is currently underway to devise a method to help inform staffing levels in Care Homes for older people using information on the residents' dependency group as assessed by the Indicator of Relative Need (IoRN) instrument. The project is a collaborative effort between the Care Commission, The Scottish Executive Joint Future Unit, ISD and a range of stakeholders including COSLA, Local Authorities, Scottish Care, BUPA, etc. Specialist advice on the analytical approach has been sought from the University of York.
