Alcohol

The publication of the Scottish Executive's Plan for Action on Alcohol Problems in January 2002 outlined the steps the Executive will take to address alcohol problems in Scotland. The Plan identified as one of its first milestones for action, the development of a national alcohol information resource (NAIR) for the benefit of those who plan and provide services. This resource has now been established and is based at the Information Services Division (ISD) of National Services Scotland in Edinburgh. Key priorities have been identified as;

  • Information development: identifying new and improved types of information.
  • Information co-ordination, to allow Alcohol Action Teams and their constituent agencies to have access to data that they require in order to produce and implement local strategies.
  • Information dissemination, to provide access, through a dedicated website, to statistics, surveys, news and links to other websites of interest: Scottish, UK and international.
