The main dental hospitals and institutes are located in Greater Glasgow, Lothian and Tayside.  New outpatient attendances treated within these three boards account for approximately two-thirds of all patients treated within a dental specialty.  The largest number of new outpatient attendances are treated within Greater Glasgow and Tayside (27,486 and 14,570 respectively).

With the exception of Greater Glasgow, the majority of hospital admissions are treated as day cases.
