ISD Programmes
Primary Care Information Programme
The Primary Care Information Programme brings together primary care information teams and projects in ISD to provide a comprehensive range of high quality primary care intelligence services for Scotland.
Objectives 2008/09
- Development of General Medical Services (GMS) warehouse to incorporate Quality and Outcomes Framework (QOF) data, summarised Community Health Index (CHI) data, and anonymised data from practices held in the Primary Care Clinical Informatics Unit in Aberdeen University
- Scottish Programme for Improving Clinical Effectiveness in primary care (SPICE-pc)- Review of 23 SPICE-pc datasets to ensure clinical evidence is up-to-date. Ensure that relevant datasets are also compliant with GMS QOF criteria as announced in 2008
- Support the work streams of the NHS National Services Scotland Dental Programme: data warehouse development, dental action plan, Childsmile, and CHI and Management Information and Dental Accounting System (MIDAS)
Programme Summary
The programme brings together the following areas from within ISD:
- Primary Medical Services (PMS) - Aims to develop, collect and provide information relating to General Medical Services(GMS) in Scotland; to develop a "GMS" data warehouse
- Scottish Clinical Information Management in Practice (SCIMP) - An advisory group with representation from Primary Care clinicians from a broad spectrum of relevant and interested organisations including all system suppliers. SCIMP promotes the safe exchange of clinical information both within Primary Care and throughout NHSScotland and uses its knowledge and expertise in encouraging and promoting standards and quality of electronic medical records to prepare practices and clinicians for the implementation of Electronic Health Records
- Prescribing and Remuneration - Aims to provide prescribing and remuneration information to NHS Boards and the Scottish Government to monitor and report prescribing activity dispensed in the community in Scotland
- Scottish Programme for Improving Clinical Effectiveness in Primary Care (SPICE-pc) - Aims to assist General Practices in the provision of effective care and to encourage quality improvement in the primary care setting
- eVAluated Drug Information System (eVADIS) - It is a relational database (Oracle) that holds information on every item commonly prescribed in Scotland; information on those who can prescribe & dispense these items in Scotland and the fees they get paid for this service
- PRescribing Information SysteM for Scotland (PRISMS) - It is a web-based application, giving access to prescribing information for all prescriptions dispensed in the community for the past five years
- Dental & Ophthalmic - Aims to provide information and analytical support for improving oral health and dental/ophthalmic services in Scotland.
