Healthcare science staff

This section provides information on the Healthcare science staff [340Kb] in NHSScotland.  Figures are sourced from the Scottish Workforce Information Standard System (SWISS) and describe those staff assimilated to the above Agenda for change job families, and those staff not yet assimilated but where a Healthcare science staff group has been identified from their current pay scale.

This is the first time Healthcare science staff have been presented by the new Agenda for change job families, sub job families and bands.  Information is also available by age group, gender, contract type, NHS Board and region.

Throughout information is presented as headcount or Whole Time Equivalent (WTE).  WTE adjusts headcount staff figures to take account of part-time staff.

At 30th September 2007 NHSScotland employed 5,152.8 (WTE) and 5,760 (Headcount) Healthcare science staff.

The chart below shows the largest staff group (WTE) within the Healthcare science job family work within a Biomedical sciences setting (50.6%).  The second largest staff group is Clinical sciences (11.8%).  At 30th September 2007, 30.1% of Healthcare science staff have not been assimilated.
