Other therapeutic staff and personal social care [612Kb] in NHSScotland. Figures are sourced from the Scottish Workforce Information Standard System (SWISS) and describe those staff assimilated to the above Agenda for change job families, and those staff not yet assimilated but where a Other therapeutic staff and personal social care staff group has been identified from their current pay scale.
This is the first time Other therapeutic staff and personal social care have been presented by the new Agenda for Change job families, sub job families and bands. Play specialists (including Nursery nurses) now appear within the Other therapeutic job family. Nursery nurses were previously reported on within the Nursing and midwifery staff group. Information is also available by age group, gender, contract type, NHS Board and region.
Throughout information is presented as headcount or Whole Time Equivalent (WTE). WTE adjusts headcount staff figures to take account of part-time staff.
At 30th September 2007 NHSScotland employed 2,753.6 (WTE) Other therapeutic staff and 549.9 (WTE) Personal social care staff.
The chart below shows the largest group (WTE) within the Other therapeutic job family, work within Pharmacy (54.9%). The second largest is Clinical psychology and counselling (25.1%). At 30th September 2007, 16.8% of Other therapeutic staff have not been assimiliated.

The chart below shows the largest group (WTE) within the personal social care job family, work within Health promotion (70.9%). The second largest is Chaplaincy (8.9%) which has not previously been reported. At 30th September 2007, 16.1% of personal social care staff have not been assimiliated.
