Key Clinical Indicators for Sexual Health: Population Based KCIs Data for 2006
This is the second report looking at the 'Population Based KCIs'. Reporting on chlamydia, sterilisation and termination of pregnancy data for calendar year 2006.
Respect and Responsibility: Strategy and Action Plan for Improving Sexual Health highlighted the need to monitor sexual health service development both nationally and at an NHS Board level. A set of key clinical indicators has been developed for this purpose. The KCIs are managed by DASH and are part of the wider quality framework for sexual health. The indicators helped to inform the development of the Quality Improvement Scotland (NHS QIS) Sexual Health Clinical Standards and also the National Sexual Health System (NaSH) with its associated datasets, developed by the National Clinical Dataset Development Programme (NCDDP ).
The KCIs are reported upon on an annual basis - the date of publication is in brackets.
NHS boards can use these reports to monitor their own progress against previous years and in comparison with others. Those that are performing well are encouraged to share their expertise.
