Multiple sclerosis - number of consultations
The chart below shows the estimated numbers of consultations in Scotland for multiple sclerosis for the four financial years 2003/04 to 2006/07, by staff discipline. Figures are standardised by age, sex and deprivation to account for any differences in these characteristics between the PTI sample population and the Scottish practice population.
The chart shows that after a drop in 2004/05 the estimated number of contacts with GPs for Multiple Sclerosis has been fairly stable over the last three years. District nurses appear to have a large part of the patient care for Multiple Sclerosis patients, as can be seen for the years 2003/04 to 2005/06. The involvement of practice nurses was very small but seems to be increasing.
