Community Nurses Measure Up A national one day census, developed by nurses for nurses Thursday 24th April 2008
|
As mentioned on all these web pages, the nurse census has been developed by nurses for nurses. We have received a great deal off input and support from everyone we have spoken with and contacted.
The Chief Nursing Officer Directorate (CNOD) - Paul Martin is also very supportive of this project and has written to all Nurse Directors asking for their support and commitment.
Here is the letter the was sent to all the Nurse Directors on the 9th April 2008: CNOD Letter to Nurse Directors

The 2008 Nursing Team census is now closed
The Census Support Team would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those who participated for taking the time and effort to complete the census.
In the three week period from the 24th April 2008 over 4,000 community nursing staff registered on the system and just over 3,000 have completed and submitted a census return.
The support team has been running regular reports on census participation and has liaised with the CHP contacts to inform them of census compliance within their areas. If you have been identified on one of these lists as not having completed but you are sure that you have then please contact us and our advisors will check your record.
Initial reports from the census are expected late Autumn 2008, Please check these web pages for further details.
The census telephone helpdesk 0131 275 6946, will remain open until Wednesday 21st May 2008. If you have any other queries regarding the census please e-mail us at: data.development@isd.csa.scot.nhs.uk.
On entering the census system you will be asked to enter three fields:
- Participation code
- Username
- Password
Participation Code
Each Community Health Partnership (CHP) will be issued with a unique participation code, which must be used by all community staff within that area. Each code consists of both numbers and letters. All letters must be typed in uppercase.
You should receive your code the week commencing the 14th April. If you haven't received this code by the 18th April, please contact the Census Support Team by e-mailing data.development@isd.csa.scot.nhs.uk or telephone the helpdesk on 0131 275 6946.
Username
Upon entering the participation code you will then be prompted to enter a username. Your username must consist of your first name combined with your last name.
If your name is common and the name already exists within the system please add a number at the end of your name. The system will accept the username once it is unique.
Password
This can be anything you like and is not case sensitive or restricted in length.
How is this kept anonymous
The census is completely anonymous and neither the nurses completing nor the patients can be identified at analysis.
The reason we ask you to enter your full name as a username means that should you forget your password you can contact the Census Support Team who will be able to reset this for you.
Once you have finished entering your information and press submit your information will be sent to Information Services and your log-in details are removed prior to analysis.
