All of the information published in this section relates to patients waiting or admitted for NHS treatment as an inpatient or day case (the specialties of mental health and obstetrics are excluded).
Inpatient / Day Case Standard	Information in these sections relates only to patients covered by the national waiting times standard set by the Scottish Government. That is, Scottish residents waiting or admitted for NHS treatment as an inpatient or day case (the specialties of mental health and obstetrics are excluded).

Number on list: This is the total number of patients waiting or admitted for NHS treatment as an inpatient or day case (the specialties of mental health and obstetrics are excluded).

This cohort of patients is used for the Patient Activity section.

Number of Scottish residents: This is a subset of Total on List, and comprises those patients who were covered by national waiting times standards set by the Scottish Government. That is, Scottish residents waiting for NHS treatment as an inpatient or day case (the specialties of mental health and obstetrics are excluded).

This cohort of patients is used for the Inpatient / Day Case Standard, Patients Waiting, Patients Seen, and Episode Length sections.

Number of non-Scottish residents: This is a subset of Total on List. These patients were not covered by the national waiting times standard set by the Scottish Government.

This cohort of patients is not separately covered by any section of the webpages.
