Notes:
1. Recent changes in incidence of ovarian cancer may be caused to some extent by changes in classification and coding. Cystadenomas of the ovary, with ICD-O morphologogy codes in the range M-8440 - M-8490, were coded as neoplasms of uncertain behaviour (ICD-9 236.2) until the introduction of ICD-10 and the second edition of ICD-O in 1997, when they started to be coded as malignant neoplasms (ICD-10 C56). With the introduction of the third edition of ICD-O in 2006, they are once again being classified as neoplasms of uncertain behaviour although being recorded at the Registry as ICD-10 C56.
2. Survival figures are not age standardised.
3. Change in incidence and mortality is estimated by Poisson regression.
